The Air Force Lacrosse team confirmed that they WILL be participating in the 2009 Patriot Cup, which will be held on March 21, 2009 at SMU. The NCAA Division I Falcons will play Bucknell at a time still TBA. Other invited teams include Navy & Army. The Air Force Falcons have several local athletes of interest on their roster: Ridge Flick, (attack) Plano West - graduated in 2006; Jack Murtha, (defense) Highland Park - graduated in 2008; and Ben Oldmixon, (defense) Austin High - graduated in 2007. The Patriot Cup is in it's third year, and always features several good college match-ups, as well as several high school and club games over the weekend. Teams participating come from all over the country. Tickets are general admission and very reasonably priced. (Previously, they've been in the $10.00 to $15.00 range, and cover the entire weekend's events.) This worthy event not only promotes the growth and visibility of lacrosse in Texas, but all proceeds benefit the Wounded Warrior Project, which supports troops wounded in the defense of our country overseas and at home.
