| As we approach the end of the lacrosse year, it is time to select candidates for next year’s board. The terms will be fulfilled starting July 1 and will serve until June 30, 2012. After due diligence, the Nominating Committee has proposed the following slate: President – Andy O’Reilly Vice President – John Burnum Secretary – Joe Overley Treasurer – Christi Ratliff Athletic Director – Guy Burgoon HS Program Director – OPEN Youth Program Director – Sherri Arvin At-Large – Don Mitchell At-Large – Donnie Jones Election process is as follows:
Plano West Lacrosse Nominating Committee: Mike Cook (Chair), George Platt, Mark Frears, Peter Gailey, Rick Cowart, Rhonda France, Steve Klinger Board Position Job Descriptions: President - The President shall preside over all business meetings of the Board. He/she shall be an ex-officio member of all committees and shall represent the Club as necessary. The President shall have signature authority on Club’s bank account. The President shall appoint Club advisors pursuant to the Policies and Procedures. The President is responsible to discuss the Board of Director’s Code of Conduct with each Director and that each Director signs it at or prior to the first board meeting they attend. He/she shall serve as spokesperson for the Club in public matters and be a liaison to Friends of North Texas and US Lacrosse. Vice President - The Vice President shall assume all duties of the President during his/her absence. His/her responsibilities include but are not be limited to: recruiting members for the Board and volunteers, nominating Committee Chairs, and maintaining insurance for the Club, and administrative liaison for all Committees in the Club, and any other duties as assigned by the President or Club. Athletic Director – The Athletic Director (AD) is responsible for recruiting and ensuring the adequate staffing of all coaches per division. The AD is responsible to discuss the Coach’s Code of Conduct with each coach and that each coach signs it prior to the first practice they attend, and is responsible for background checks on all coaches. Proposes budget for coaches’ salaries, coaches’ gear, and coaches’ expenses. The AD is in charge of the Club’s equipment and its off-season care. The AD will be in charge of the uniforms and the required equipment for each team, ensuring the uniform and required equipment meet or exceed league rules. Meets with Program Directors, Coaches, and Assistants as needed. Proposes budget expenses that directly relate to fields and equipment. Obtains permits and permission from the respective organization(s) necessary for building and field use. Unless otherwise specified by the Club’s Policy and Procedure’s, the Athletic Director will be the liaison for the disciplinary committee as it pertains to lacrosse. Secretary - The Secretary shall keep a record of all Board and Club meetings. The Secretary shall maintain a database of Board Member, Coach, Parent, and Player information and shall be responsible for player handbooks, spring and fall registrations, maintaining all signed documents, maintains all correspondence with the leagues’ governing bodies, and any other duties as assigned by the President or Club. Treasurer - The Treasurer shall have custody of all funds of the Team and Club, keep books of accounts and records including bank statements, receipts, budgets, invoices, paid receipts and canceled checks for five years, make disbursements as authorized by the President, Executive Committee, or Club in accordance with the budget adopted by the Club, sign on bank accounts, present a financial statement at board meetings, and at other times when requested by the Club or Executive Committee, maintain records of registration fee payments, submit books to the auditing committee as requested, and file any necessary tax reports for city, county, state and federal entities. High School Program Director – The High School Program Director (H.S. Prog. Dir.) is responsible to manage the High School teams to be in compliance with the associated league’s governing body. The H.S. Prog. Dir. is responsible for High School game day activities, not limited to duties such as game day reports, lining fields, announcers, time keepers, site administrators, etc.. Responsible for communications with parents as it pertains to schedules, notices, newsletters, etc. for the High School Teams. The H.S. Prog. Dir. is responsible to discuss the Parent’s and Player’s Code of Conduct with each High School player and parent and that each player and parent signs it prior to the first practice they attend. Youth School Program Director - The Youth Program Director (Youth Prog. Dir.) is responsible to manage the youth teams to be in compliance with the associated league’s governing body. The Youth Prog. Dir. is responsible for Youth game day activities, not limited to duties such as game day reports, lining fields, announcers, time keepers, site administrators, etc.. Responsible for communications with parents as it pertains to schedules, notices, newsletters, etc. for the Youth Teams. The Youth Prog. Dir. is responsible to discuss the Parent’s and Player’s Code of Conduct with each Youth player and parent and that each player and parent signs it prior to the first practice they attend. At-Large Director – There will be two (2) At-Large Directors. These board positions are intended to add people to the Board to offer a more balanced representation of the Club. Committee Chairs are a likely source to fill the At-Large Director positions. |
